Privacy Policy

The short version

All FreeToolsToGo tools run entirely in your browser. We do not collect, store, or transmit any data you enter into our tools. The site itself loads a small amount of analytics to understand which pages are visited; details below.

1. What data we collect

Tool inputs

None. All tool processing happens client-side in your browser. Your salary, mortgage balance, JSON payload, image, PDF, signature, invoice line items, and other inputs never leave your device. You can verify this in your browser's DevTools Network tab — no POST requests fire as you use any tool, with the two narrow exceptions listed in Section 3.

Aggregate site analytics

Page views, referral source, general location (country level), and aggregated device/browser metadata. None of this can be tied to an individual visitor.

Retention: Google Analytics 4 is configured with a 14-month retention period for user-and-event data, after which records are automatically deleted. Microsoft Clarity retains session recordings for 30 days by default.

2. Third-party services we load

  • Google Analytics 4 (analytics; essential to understand which tools get used). Sets cookies starting with_ga /_gid. Opt out at any time: install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or block via any ad-blocker / browser tracking-protection setting.
  • Microsoft Clarity (anonymized session replays — cursor, scroll, page navigation). Clarity masks all text input by default; we also issue an explicit clarity('set','mask','all') call to belt-and-suspender the default. Clarity sets a _clck / _clsk cookie pair. Block via any ad-blocker or browser tracking-protection setting. Microsoft documents Clarity data handling at learn.microsoft.com/clarity.
  • Google AdSense (advertising; only loaded when ads are enabled site-wide). May set cookies for ad personalisation. Opt out at Google Ad Settings or use any ad-blocker.
  • External CDNs (cdnjs.cloudflare.com, cdn.jsdelivr.net): used only to load the PDF.js and Tesseract.js libraries on the small number of tools that need them (PDF / OCR tools). The libraries are loaded as scripts; your files are NOT uploaded to the CDN.

No other third-party services run on this site. No Resend / SendGrid / email-collection backends. No Supabase client-side data layer. No advertising networks beyond Google AdSense (if enabled). No A/B-test or feature-flag SaaS. No session-recording beyond Microsoft Clarity.

3. Two server endpoints that DO receive user-provided data

  • Open Graph Preview tool (/tools/open-graph-preview/): the URL you preview is sent to our server because browser CORS rules don't allow direct cross-origin scraping of OG meta tags. We fetch the URL, parse the meta tags, and return them. The URL is not logged or stored beyond the request itself.
  • Embed counter: when one of our tools is embedded on a third-party site, the iframe pings home with the tool slug and the embedding site's hostname so we can count where embeds appear. This fires from embedded iframes on OTHER sites — not from your normal use of freetoolstogo.com. No personal data is included.

4. Cookies

FreeToolsToGo itself sets no first-party cookies for tool functionality. The third-party services in Section 2 set their own cookies as described.

CookieSet byPurposeType
_gaGoogle AnalyticsDistinguish usersAnalytics
_ga_*Google AnalyticsSession stateAnalytics
_clckMicrosoft ClarityPersistent user IDAnalytics
_clskMicrosoft ClaritySession IDAnalytics

All cookies above are non-essential and can be blocked without breaking tool functionality.

5. Your choices

  • Block all analytics: Use any ad blocker (uBlock Origin, AdBlock Plus, etc.) or browser-level tracking protection (Firefox ETP "Strict", Safari ITP, Brave Shields). None of our tools require analytics to function.
  • Google Analytics opt-out: Install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on to disable GA across every site that uses it, including ours.
  • Do Not Track: We respect browser-level Do Not Track signals where supported by the third-party tools we use.
  • Microsoft Clarity opt-out: Clarity respects Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals; enable GPC in your browser to opt out site-wide.

6. EU / UK / EEA visitors (GDPR readiness)

Visitors from the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the European Economic Area: this site uses analytics cookies that may be considered non-essential under GDPR / UK GDPR. We do not currently display a consent banner, but you can disable all analytics using any of the methods in Section 5. Tool inputs are never transmitted to any server regardless of consent status, with the narrow exceptions listed in Section 3.

Under GDPR / UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection regarding any personal data we hold. Because we do not hold personal data beyond aggregated analytics that cannot be tied to an individual visitor, there is typically no personal data to act on — but if you have specific concerns, email privacy@freetoolstogo.com and we will respond within 30 days.

7. California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with third parties except anonymous analytics aggregates with Google (Google Analytics, Google AdSense when enabled) and Microsoft (Microsoft Clarity). We do not engage in cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not knowingly collect or sell the personal information of minors under 16.

California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to opt out of sale or sharing (not applicable — we do neither), and to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. Email privacy@freetoolstogo.com to exercise any of these rights.

8. Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child has interacted with the site in a way that may have transmitted personal information to one of the third-party analytics services, email privacy@freetoolstogo.com and we will cooperate with any necessary deletion request to the third-party processor.

9. Data security

Because we do not collect tool inputs, there is no corresponding data store to breach. Aggregate analytics held by Google / Microsoft are subject to those companies' own security commitments — see their respective privacy policies for detail.

10. Data sharing

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your information to outside parties. We have no user accounts, no databases of user data, and no email lists. The only data leaving our origin server is what your browser sends directly to Google, Microsoft, or AdSense's servers when those scripts load.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date and recorded in the legal changelog. Non-material wording cleanups are not announced.
