About FreeToolsToGo
Built and maintained by a software engineer — not a financial advisor.
Every calculator on this site was written, tested, and is maintained by the same engineer who wrote the code behind it. The formulas are open, the sources are cited, and nothing here is a sales funnel.
FreeToolsToGo (also known as Free Tools To Go or FT2G) is a growing collection of transparent calculators and utilities — concentrated in personal finance, taxes, real estate, retirement, and developer tooling. Every tool runs entirely in your browser, and every finance tool is built to show its math rather than hide it.
Who built this
This site is built and run by a single software engineer. Not a financial advisor. Not a CPA. Not a tax attorney. Not a licensed professional of any kind. What I am is an engineer who has shipped 34 finance calculators — and cares a great deal about whether the numbers they produce are correct, well-sourced, and honestly bounded.
That distinction matters, so I state it plainly: I build calculation tools. I do not give advice. The difference is the entire point of this page.
Why I built this
I built these because I wanted calculators that show their formulas, cite their sources, and tell you what they don't model. Most consumer finance calculators are black boxes built to drive affiliate clicks. I wanted reference-quality calculation tools that work the same way an engineer would build them: with documented inputs, transparent math, and honest limitations.
What this site is
Reference calculators. Educational tools. A second opinion to run against your CPA's spreadsheet, your lender's estimate, or your own back-of-the-envelope math. Use them to understand how a number is built — the bracket walk, the amortization schedule, the withholding gap — and to sanity-check figures you've been given elsewhere.
What this site is not
This site is not financial advice. It is not tax advice. It is not legal advice. It does not make investment recommendations. It is not a substitute for the judgment of a licensed professional who knows your full situation. The calculators estimate outcomes from the inputs you provide and publicly published rules — nothing more. Always consult a licensed CPA, tax attorney, or financial advisor before making decisions that affect your finances.
How the methodology works
Every finance tool is built around an open methodology: the formula it uses, the assumptions and defaults it applies, the IRS publication or Internal Revenue Code section it relies on, the date it was last reviewed, and an honest list of what it does not model. When a calculator depends on tax-year-specific numbers — contribution limits, bracket thresholds, wage bases — those figures are reviewed each year after the IRS publishes its inflation-adjusted limits in the fall.
You can review the formula sources and version data on the Data Sources & Citations page. We show our formulas because you deserve to know how a number was calculated — this is calculation transparency, not financial advice.
No ads, no affiliates, no email capture
Currently, this site has no ads, no affiliate links, no paid tier, no email capture, and no sponsored content. It exists because I wanted these tools to exist. That also means there is no commercial incentive to nudge you toward any particular product, lender, or financial decision — the calculator just does the math.
Found an error?
If a calculator produces a number you believe is wrong — or cites a limit or rate that's out of date — please tell me. Email privacy@freetoolstogo.com with the tool name, your inputs, and what you expected. Accuracy reports are taken seriously and corrections are made promptly.
Your privacy
Every tool runs entirely in your browser. There is no server-side processing for any tool's core function — your income, account balances, files, and inputs never leave your device. There is no backend, no database, and no storage of what you enter. Google Analytics is the only external service, and you can block it with any content blocker without affecting any tool.
